Panchavarnathatha
Story: Jayaram is an orphan, a pet dealer who lives a vagabond’s life. His life gets entwined with that of a local MLA, played by Kunchacko Boban and one day, the MLA finds an entire herd of animals at his palatial home.
Review: The title cards of Panchavarnathatha come up with pictures of cute baby animals and catchy music, leading you to anticipate a fun film involving animals, perhaps a children’s film even. Being a Ramesh Pisharody directorial, you also expect a full-on comedy. But as the film unfolds, you realise that neither is it about animals, nor about anything in particular. Rather, half the film is a series of comic sequences strung together, many of which remind you of outdated comedy skits. The incredible comic talent of its director Ramesh Pisharody, which viewers expected, is sadly missing in his debut.
